Naked Raku Vase 1

$75.00

This vase stands 6.25 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide at its widest point

this vase is not water safe due to the naked raku process. It can be wiped clean with water but cannot hold water within the vase for extended periods of time as the ceramic will eventually absorb some of the water and can eventually cause damage. do not drink liquids from this vase.

The naked raku process involves dunking the ceramics in a special slip before fireing. during the fireing process the vases are removed from the kiln red hot and cooled down in sawdust to create lots of residual carbon. After cooling the slip cracks away revealing the carbon deposits in the patterns you see along the vase.

The vase has been coated with a protective spray to prevent the carbon patterning from losing contrast over time.
